Presenting the Omega Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon Apollo 8!

This very special Speedmaster commemorates the Apollo 8 lunar mission which, on December 21st, 1968, saw Frank Borman, Jim Lovell, and William Anders became the first humans to see the far side of the moon and capture the iconic "Earthrise" photograph while orbiting the lunar surface.
This Speedmaster Apollo 8 is elegant and has a unique stealthy aspect to it which I think many watch collectors will appreciate.

Historical Significance:
As the spacecraft was about to pass behind the moon and lose communication with Earth, astronaut Jim Lovell famously said "We'll see you on the other side," signifying that they were entering a period of radio silence while navigating the dark side of the moon before re-establishing contact once they were in lunar orbit; this phrase became a significant moment in the mission, representing the crew's confidence and the sheer audacity of their journey to the moon.

To commemorate this incredible achievement in lunar history, this Speedmaster Apollo 8 features:
 
✅ Black 44.25mm ceramic case which is lightweight & scratch resistant
✅ Skeletonized dial that has been laser-ablated to look like the surface of the Moon
✅ Varnished yellow chronograph hands have been added to contrast the “dark” color scheme
✅ The movement itself has been blackened and can be seen through the caseback with engravings stating “APOLLO 8, DEC 1968”, “DARK SIDE OF THE MOON”, and “WE’LL SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE.”
✅  Perforated black leather strap with a yellow rubber interior.
